In July 2022, in Kenya, a country where the Air Liquide group is not present, an Access Oxygen™ pilot was launched with the Center for Public Health and Development (CPHD), a non-governmental organization that helps resolve recurring difficulties in accessing health in Kenya. With its 2 subsidiaries Hewatele - for oxygen cylinders - and MediQuip Global - for concentrators - CPHD will operate the Access Oxygen™ service offer.
Air Liquide’s Access Oxygen™ team is helping CPHD secure additionnal short- and long-term financing, in view of expanding the service to dozens of facilities across the country. If successful, this “Kenya model” could pave the way for further expansion of Access Oxygen™ services in LMICs where there is no Air Liquide presence.
In April 2023, the pilot was extended to 12 additional health structures in the Nairobi region, supported by a second funder.
